JULIA
Julia, she is climbing up the trees in her memories
Chasing birds with curious words of a wide-eyed fantasy
Like a squirrel she’s playing hide and seek
With all the girls and boys up in the trees
She never thought she would grow old
Because her mother has told
Her that she’s sick and crazy and a problem child
But in truth she’s collecting rosehips
Selling them on the streets for some tips
To buy her friends some sweets
Julia, she is climbing up the trees in her memories
Chasing birds with curious words of a wide-eyed fantasy
Like a squirrel she’s playing hide and seek
With all the girls and boys up in the trees
She was living near the airport
Watching the planes rumbling by
But can’t forget her drunken dad’s bellowing voice
So she starts to cling to the mirror
To see the girl behind her fears
Bringing her pain to light
She never thought she would grow old
Because her mother has told
Her that she’s sick and crazy and a problem child
But in truth she’s collecting rosehips
Selling them on the streets for some tips
To buy her friends some sweets
Julia, she is climbing up the trees in her memories
Chasing birds with curious words of a wide-eyed fantasy
Like a squirrel she’s playing hide and seek
With all the girls and boys up in the trees
Now she’s drawing all these pictures
Charcoal on fluffy paper sheets
To see her mirror image and she will be
And she will be, and she will be fine
